There is plenty of choice in Newport and lots of local independent cafes, bars and bistros to enjoy alongside the well-known brands

The Isle of Wight is lucky enough to have a wealth of great local producers and places to eat and Newport encompases this well. Being the county town of the Island, Newport has a great range of quaint cafés and tea rooms, ideal for enjoying a coffee and a baguette in the sunshine, some great characterful pubs where you can have a lovely traditional pub lunch and some restaurants that are great for a special occasion meals.

Lugleys of Newport is one of these such restaurants, serving up quality local food in a romantic, sophisticated atmosphere. If it's a café you're looking for however, the likes of the Quay Arts Café, which overlooks Newport Harbour, Café 44 in Carisbrooke and Caffe Isola are sure to delight. When it comes to pubs, Newport definitely doesn't disappoint; the Bargeman's Rest on Newport Quay is a wonderfully characterful pub serving traditional pub grub. The Eight Bells in Carisbrooke, The Stag on the way to Cowes and the Dairyman's Daughter in Arreton are both slightly out of town but well worth a visit.
