Visit IW are presenting the details of the prospectus for the Business Improvement District proposal to Newport Business Association this coming Wednesday 4th November. The BID will cover the whole of the Isle of Wight and will be primarily for growing the visitor economy and enhancing the Island’s environment. Tourism and retail sectors will contribute via a levy based on the rateable value of the business rates. With the IW Council no longer able to offer the support it once did to tourism and the general environment, a BID is seen as the only proven way forward to continue to grow our visitor economy and enhance the Island’s towns and villages.
Ideas coming forward include parking promotions such as ‘free after 3’ in some car parks, more events such as Pearl Izumi across the Island, entering awards such as Seaside Awards, Britain in Bloom, improving connectivity (mobile, WiFi and transport) as well as marketing the Island as a top visitor destination.
Anyone with a business in Newport is welcome to come along on Wednesday please contact email@example.com for further details. You can join Newport Business Association here.
