The story begins all the way back in 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. The entrepreneurial 17 year old Fred DeLuca opens ‘Pete’s Super Submarines’ to help pay for his university tuition. This was later shortened to Subway® and the familiar bright yellow logo was introduced.

Just over three decades later in 1996, the first UK Subway® store opened in Brighton – fast forward to 2017 and the Subway® brand now has over 2,500 stores open in the UK and Ireland and continues to expand at a phenomenal rate, with an average of six stores opening in the UK and Ireland every week.
